Roman Trabura

Roman Trabura was born on July 21, 1960 in Vsetín. Since 1978 he has lived and worked in Prague, where he attended private drawing and painting lessons and lectures on the history of art.

In 1990 he joined the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the studios of Prof. Načeradský and Prof. A. Vesely. In 1994 he studied at Nottingham Trent University in England.

At the Academy of Fine Arts in the early nineties he was one of the most important turning points in shaping the Renaissance of painting against the tide of conceptual tendencies. He graduated from the Academy with a diploma thesis in 1997.
He has been awarded a scholarship from the Jana and Milan Jelinek Stiftung four times. He also received a study grant from the European Tempus Foundation.

He has realized several projects in public spaces: altar painting in the church in Líbeznice near Prague, murals in the KHB complex in the Japanese city of Kagoshima.

His works are published in professional magazines, many catalogs and art publications such as Contemporary Czech painting by Pavla Pečínková published by G-B Arts International Limited in Australia in 1993, Czech studios published by Art.cz in 2005, Debt payment, Torst publishing house. In 2001 he received the annual award of the Mladá fronta publishing house for illustrations for the book Pohádky z Emmentalu.

He participated in art workshops and symposia – Foundation-La Rectoria Barcelona, Galerie Felix jenewein-Kutná Hora-F.Jenewein., Jantarová stezka, Hradec nad Moravicí, Smalt -art-Ostrava, Oberpfalzer Kunstlerhaus Schwandorf,.

Since 1984 he has exhibited in the Netherlands, Spain, Slovakia, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Poland and the United States.

In the Czech Republic, his works are represented in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague, the collection of the Czech Museum of Fine Arts in Prague, the Felix Jenewein Gallery in Kutná Hora. GASK Kutná Hora, the Museum of Art in Olomouc, the Open Society Fund, the Klatovy Klenová Gallery, the Hradec nad Moravicí Chateau, the Caesar Olomouc Gallery, the North Bohemian Gallery in Litoměřice, the Collette Lettenmayer collection. . Some of his works are located in private collections in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg, Barcelona, New York and Prague.
